Girl Power!

Just two years ago, the UN declared October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child to raise awareness about all issues concerning gender inequality around the world.

Just yesterday Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan was awarded the Nobel Peace prize for championing the rights of a girl to get an education.
                                   Synchronicity at its best!

Malala's father made a speech where her said: In tribal and patriarchal societies, a man is known by his sons. "But I am one of the few fathers who is known by my daughter," he said. "And I am proud of that."

He spoke about how, in rural Pakistan, when a girl is born, it is never cause for celebration, but rather shame. As she grows up, she is taught only one virtue: Obedience.

He finished his speech by saying that people always ask him what he did to make Malala into such a strong warrior. He says it's not what he did; it's what he DIDN'T do: "I didn't clip her wings." "I taught her to unlearn the lesson of obedience."

Teach your girls to unlearn their obedience and Never clip their wings.
And let a star shine in the crown of all parents, who guide their daughters to grow strong.

  1. The peace Prize has no value anymore.Obama got this but remains a war monger.Malala is great at what she does, but that definitely is not for the Noble peace Prize. This was a deliberate political act from the US government, if you know about the political tension between Pakistan and US.That explains why even the Pakistanis are not happy with the Prize.i know the US uses the media to paint the hatred as Talibans.Yes Malala was shot unjustly and she survived but there are thousands of women who speak like her each day but are not recognised. If Malala were to speak about the racial injustice in US and so on, she would definitely never be on any Billboard.I appreciate her work but this is all staged up by the American government and it is because she is Pakistani

    1. That's a great observation. This article says it all http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2013/11/malala-nabila-worlds-apart-201311193857549913.html

That is the world we live in - manipulated by interests of a few at the expense of many.

But that aside, this young girl deserves it and is not oblivious to the tactics of the US.

Thanks again for your great insight!
