I have a question for You!

It is time to elect a new world leader, and only your vote counts.
Here are the facts about the three candidates.

Candidate A:
Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with astrologists. He's had two mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 Martinis a day.

Candidate B:
He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening.

Candidate C:
He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an occasional beer and never committed adultery.

Which of these candidates would be your choice?

Decide first... No peeking, then scroll down for the response.

Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Candidate B is Winston Churchhill.
Candidate C is Adolf Hitler.

Pretty interesting isn't it?
Makes a person think before judging someone.

Your past may have determined your present but it should not determine your future.

Remember:

Amateurs... Built the ark.
Professionals... Built the Titanic.

December, December, December

December is here and for most of us it means Christmas or Holidays or Both!

But it also means 2015 is just around the corner - time does fly indeed.

So before your put pen to paper to write those goals for the new year what about those goals you set at the start of this year?

Did you step out of your comfort zone, trying things you had never done before?
Did you make 2014 the year you elevated from where you were and soared high?
Did you Make IT Happen?

If you haven't yet, now is the time to stop Planning and start Doing.

So on your mark, get set, go... because it's not about how you start, but about how you finish - just ask any gold medalist at the olympics...

This December, make every millisecond of everyday count!

Happy December

All I can say is Thank You LORD!
That moment when you are invited (all expenses paid) for the opening plenary and to speak at the World's Greatest Problem Solvers Conference #WGPS 2014 in conversation with  Katty Kay, BBC World News Anchor.

At first it seems like fiction because it all started as an idea - one that has transformed into Jumpstart Academy Africa with an exceptional co-founder and champion Omotola Akinsola.

Life is about moments like these - moments that take your breath away.

"The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are."

“Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls”.

Everyone fails at times...

Defeat is only when you don't rebound but instead allow failure to turn what could be a successful life into a wasted one.

As Leymah Gbowee puts it:
Your legacy is not how hard you fell.
Your legacy is how you were able to get up, raise your head & walk majestically to conquer the world.

3 QUESTIONS EVERYONE SHOULD ASK THEMSELVES!!!

                                                IF NOT ME, THEN WHO?

                                             IF NOT NOW, THEN WHEN?

AND IF NOT HERE, THEN WHERE?

Whatever it is - a goal, a dream or an idea...

M.A.K.E. I.T. H.A.P.P.E.N

So ask yourself - would you rather try and fail or not try at all?

And make that 4 questions you need to ask yourself!!!

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

If there is a route to securing your goals and dreams,
And you determine that your goals are worth taking that route,

Then despite the difficulties, you have a choice:
As to whether you will look at that path positively or negatively.
Since you want to take that path, why not look at it positively?

And while you are at it, remember that...

Food for thought!

In any endeavor or venture, don't only do what is tried and proven.

Try bigger and better things for bigger and better results; greater steps for greater success.

Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Food for thought!

Methods may have to be assessed over the long term.

So don't discard a venture or endeavor if good results aren't immediate.

Girl Power!

Just two years ago, the UN declared October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child to raise awareness about all issues concerning gender inequality around the world.

Just yesterday Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan was awarded the Nobel Peace prize for championing the rights of a girl to get an education.
                                   Synchronicity at its best!

Malala's father made a speech where her said: In tribal and patriarchal societies, a man is known by his sons. "But I am one of the few fathers who is known by my daughter," he said. "And I am proud of that."

He spoke about how, in rural Pakistan, when a girl is born, it is never cause for celebration, but rather shame. As she grows up, she is taught only one virtue: Obedience.

He finished his speech by saying that people always ask him what he did to make Malala into such a strong warrior. He says it's not what he did; it's what he DIDN'T do: "I didn't clip her wings." "I taught her to unlearn the lesson of obedience."

Teach your girls to unlearn their obedience and Never clip their wings.
And let a star shine in the crown of all parents, who guide their daughters to grow strong.

17-year-old Pakistani advocate for girls' becomes the youngest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize!!!

Exactly two years and a day after Taliban gunmen shot her in the head for daring to speak up for the rights of a girl to get an education, Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan was awarded the Nobel Peace prize today.

Malala reminds us that even the seemingly Impossible is Possible.

And that you are never too young (or old) to make a difference in the world.

Congrats to this amazing young lady!!!!

May she inspire us all to dare to do the impossible...

Who Moved My Cheese: About Fear

The author poses the question - what would you do if you were not afraid?

Because what you are afraid of is never as bad as what you imagine. The fear you let build up in your mind is worse than the situation that actually exists.

So what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

Who Moved My Cheese?

This weekend, I got to re-read the book "Who Moved My Cheese" written by Dr Spencer Johnson and I remembered why I had read it the first time.
At first glance, you may wonder what cheese has to do with anything.
Cheese is actually metaphor for what you want to have in life – whether it is a good job, a loving relationship, money, or spiritual peace of mind. Cheese is what we think will make us happy, and when circumstances take it away, different people deal with change in different ways.

The book is all about discovering how you can let change work to your advantage and let it lead you to success!

And of course I will share the best bits so stay tuned!!!

It all starts with YOU!!!

Only as high as you reach can you grow
Only as far as you seek can you go
Only as deep as you look can you see
Only as much a you dream can you be

So don't just follow your dreams....CHASE them!!!

"Rich Dad Poor Dad" #5

“We all have tremendous potential, and we all are blessed with gifts. Yet, the one thing that holds us back is some degree of self-doubt. It is not so much the lack of technical information that holds us back, but more the lack of self-confidence.”

"Rich Dad Poor Dad" #3

“In the real world outside of academics, something more than just grades is required.

I have heard it called "guts," "chutzpah," "balls," "audacity," "bravado," "cunning," "daring," "tenacity" and "brilliance."

This factor, whatever it is labeled, ultimately decides one's future much more than school grades.”

"Rich Dad Poor Dad" #1

“In school we learn that mistakes are bad, and we are punished for making them. Yet, if you look at the way humans are designed to learn, we learn by making mistakes. We learn to walk by falling down. If we never fell down, we would never walk.”

A Must Read! - "Rich Dad Poor Dad"

Rich Dad, Poor Dad" is by far one of the best books I’ve read and re-read more times than I can count. Written by American businessman, author and investor Robert Kiyosaki, the book is written in the style of a set of parables, ostensibly based on Kiyosaki's life.
It is an absolutely great book and highly recommended - I couldn’t help but share the best 5 pieces of advice.

So here it goes...

Bout Failure!

At some point(s) in life will come a moment often dreaded - that moment when we Fail at something!

Don't hit the panic button - Just Be Calm...

Because if you think about it, Failure is just feedback; it’s simply showing you what’s not working so you can find out what will work. It’s necessary and can’t be avoided.

With a Positive Mental Attitude, Failure becomes a learning experience, a rung on the ladder, a plateau at which to get your thoughts in order and prepare to try again.

So don't be embarrassed by your Failures - learn from them and start again.

Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker.
Failure is delay, not defeat.
It is a temporary detour, not a dead end.

Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.” - Denis Waitley

Lessons from the Journey of Life #Series 5

About LIFE... and LOVE
Life is the important thing - you never get it back again. Possessions come and go. So don't love possessions and use people - Love people and use possessions.
Life is short, live it. Love is rare, grab it. Anger is bad, dump it. Fear is awful, face it. Memories are sweet, cherish it.
Love what you have. Need what you want. Accept what you receive. Give what you can. Always remember, what goes around, comes around.

Life is like photography - Focus on what’s important, Capture the good times, Develop from the negatives. And if things don’t work out - Well, take another shot!

Lessons from the Journey of Life #Series 4

About the Pursuit of Happiness
There's a reason why Pharrell's song #Happy is a global sensation
It's simple - in spite of our differences, we all want to be HAPPY!
Being happy does not mean that everything is perfect - it means that you decide to look beyond the imperfections.
"Successful people aren’t happy people, happy people are successful people"
About Being You
Self confidence is the most attractive quality a person can have - no one can see how awesome you are if you can’t see it yourself.
Don't be afraid to stand for what you believe in, even if that means standing alone.
"Everyone of us is born to stand out - so why spend so much time and energy trying to fit in"

MandelaDay #TimetoServe #Freedom

It's Nelson Mandela International Day, a day of service celebrated on July 18, Mandela's birthday

Take Action!
Inspire Change!
Can you spare 67 minutes of your time helping others?

Every year, on Mandela Day, people around the world are asked by the Nelson Mandela Foundation to do just that.
By devoting 67 minutes of their time – one minute for every year of Mr. Mandela’s public service – people can make a small gesture of solidarity with humanity and a step towards a global movement for good.

To my latest readers joining from Guatemala - Bienvenido!!!

Lessons from the Journey of Life #Series 3

About Moving On
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending. When the past calls, let it go to voice mail, it has nothing new to say.
About Growing
There are two paths that will never converge: the path of Safety and the path of Growth.
Safety - is staying within the confines of what you are used to and what is comfortable.

Growth - is being receptive to change.
So choose the path of Growth because even though Change does not ensure Progress - Progress requires Change!

Lessons from the Journey of Life #Series 2

About Success The biggest failure is never trying at all.
Have the discipline to do what you know you should do, even when you don't feel like doing it.
Your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure - Forget all the reasons it won’t work and believe the one reason that it will.

Good things come to those who sit and wait - Greater things come to those who get up and work smart to make it happen.
About Persistence
Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not! Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men & women with talent.
Genius will not! Unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not! The world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination are the key ingredients.

Lessons from the Journey of Life #Series 1

About Knowledge
We learn something from everyone we meet and every experience - Some lessons are painful, some are painless but all of them are priceless.

About Vision
It is important to foresee and focus on the needs of the future, but it is equally important to build day by day, brick by brick, until the structure of tomorrow is solidly and safely built.

The best way to predict the future is to create it. So don't Wait for the Opportunity – Become the Opportunity!

About Finding your Purpose
“My mission in life is not merely to Survive, but to Thrive; and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humor, and some Style”
Maya Angelou

Here is the test to find whether your mission on Earth is finished - If you're alive, it isn't… So On Your Mark, Get Set and Go!!

It's about the JOURNEY

Life isn't only about getting to the destination, it's also about the journey.

The journey is the important part - what you take time for, what you learn and experience along the way.

This week I will be sharing some of the lessons which I draw my inspiration from in this journey of life.

Wishing you all a Happy Week and all the very best in your endeavours!!!

Don’t assume – analyze.
Brutal honesty trumps hypocritical politeness.
Have courage.
Ignore the nonsense of conventional wisdom.
People matter.
Care about genuine issues.
Go for GREAT, not just good.
Be willing to fail but aim for revolutionary success.
